We all love beautifully wrapped gifts under the Christmas tree and now there are an array of wonderful wrapping alternatives you can use. But what if you still end up getting the brightly colored wrapping paper we all know so well. Here’s just a couple of ideas to reuse the paper that cannot be recycled. Remember, if it’s coated, sparkly, has glitter or is soiled, it cannot be recycled.
#1 Paper Mâché- why not create something new by trying your hand at arts and crafts. Blow a balloon up to the size of a bauble, take your paper scraps and use well mixed flour and water to coat the balloon. As soon as it is dry pop the balloon and voilà you have next years Christmas decorations!
#2 Make next years cards. Get creative with some collage.
#3 Make your Christmas bows - easy step by step instructions can be found online and will save a lot of landfill.
#4 - Make the wreath. No need to buy one, use the scraps to make a beautiful wreath to hang on your door for next year.
There are plenty more wonderful ideas that will prevent the paper ending up in landfill. If you can’t recycle, REUSE.
Happy holidays and the warmest of wishes to you all.
